The Creek

This lake house sits at the intersections of contemporary and traditional in both form and finish.

Project Info

At first glance this home appears traditional both in form and finish. But closer inspection reveals a contemporary layout with a classic aesthetic.
Located on a pie-shaped slice of land on Lake Louisa QC, this new home replaced an original family cottage which had come to the end of its life. Hemmed in by lake and road, the size and position of the structure was largely dictated by zoning setbacks. Occupied by three generations of family with frequent visitors, the home features a guest suite on the ground floor with two large bedrooms upstairs. A large screened porch forms a complete summer living space with fireplace, sitting and dining areas. A south facing deck affords expansive views, and seems to be floating over the nearby lake. Nearby fire-pit and landscape design further extend the ground floor living spaces. Easily accessed from the waterfront, the basement level includes a convenient washroom with shower. A den with TV and gas fireplace, games room, and plenty of storage space complete the wish list for this highly functional family retreat.
